We are going to talk about the fundamentals behind strategic Artificial Intelligence systems in games even if you have no idea how to code and have no intention of learning..
We’ll look at some basic Artificial Intelligence frameworks how they’re built and how they may affect games design.
In this video, we look at how simple AI systems work, and how we can create “smarter” AI that create and execute plans. We’ll learn how to code a modified form of the GOAP AI in a future programming tutorial.
I’ve been an avid gamer for over 30 years and yes, I have always been interested what is under the hood, so to speak. But in the end there has been no such thing as smart AI in any game. Even in games where an AI presents a challenge it is either through direct *cheating* (The AI is given advantages) or the ability of an ‘AI’ to micromanage many things (*everything*) at once whereas the human player is severely limited by the ‘interface’.
